APPEAL FROM AN EMERGING ARTIST:
If you’re reading this, you probably follow me on one of my social networks, which hopefully means you know who I am.
As of Summer 2010, I’ve been pursuing a career as a solo vocalist. Before then, I was writing, singing background, and being classically trained from adolescence through my term with the Yale School of Music. I’ve toured the world for music, and sung everything from Italian arias, to a cappella, funk and folk.
In Summer 2011, I released my first album, “An Old Soul”. It was jazz and soul covers recorded with LIVE MUSICIANS ENTIRELY IN ANALOG. I really wanted to give it that true vintage feel, and because no one knew me yet, I wanted to sing familiar songs.
But my goal was, is and always will be to connect with people through music and common experiences, and that is only possible through original music, and music that is truly personal to me. That’s why, only TWO MONTHS after the release of “An Old Soul”, I began working on my sophomore album of ORIGINAL R&B/SOUL MUSIC.
A year later, “A Better Picture” was released. In that time, in addition to creating a full-length album, I’ve produced shows, performed tirelessly, traveled for my music, and much more. All of that has taught me so many things about myself and about my music.
The main thing I’ve learned is that I need YOU. That means anyone reading this and ESPECIALLY anyone I’m not currently able to reach. I could produce a magnum opus and win 38 GRAMMY’s, but it means nothing without people to HEAR IT.
So I’m reaching out to all of you and putting my heart on the line. I NEED YOU. I don’t expect you to come to every show. I don’t expect you to buy every song. I don’t expect you to comment on and “like” everything I post. All of that would certainly be AMAZING, but I know that I have to EARN that kind of loyalty and fellowship.
What I am asking for is a CHANCE.
I have a show coming up on Monday, 1/21. That’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Most of you won’t be working that day. It’s at 9:30pm, it’s $20, and it’s a lineup of emerging musicians, like myself, who are just looking for their shot at winning you over. Will you give me the chance to win a spot in your life’s playlist? If so, I hope I see you. I can sing 1 SONG PER 5 PEOPLE, and I currently have NO PEOPLE on the list to see me. So please come, say you’re there for Kat Webb, and enjoy the music. We’ll all be pouring our hearts out FOR YOU.
